The ISMs are the philosophies that drive the decision making at Rocket Companies.
They are a set of 20 statements and ways to live by that unite the entirety of the Rock Family of Companies – over 100 companies and 30,000 team members in total. ISMs Day gives team members the chance to learn about and immerse themselves in the culture of the organization by hearing from executive leaders, impactful team members and peers
about what the ISMs mean and how they drive the work happening at the Rock Family
of Companies.

I have lead design for ISMs Day for a number of years – focusing on presentation and agenda design, wayfinding and even immersive spatial design such as the stage backdrops, banners, table decals, and the larger-than-life replica of the ISMs Book! I tie threads among business areas of the organization, working alongside the event team, audio/visual team and executive leaders to create a simple and seamless way to communicate how important the ISMs are to the work being done at Rocket Companies.

ISMs in Action Day

2022 Rocket Mortgage
Classic Collection
Launch Party

Each year, the Threads team creates a custom collection for team members to get excited for and attend the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Leading spatial design for the Threads team for many years, I direct and create the designs, layout and overall aesthetic of the launch party. In 2022, I based the overall theme on a design collaboration I did with Genusee, a local eyewear company, as a part of the upcoming collection. Not only did I get to create a custom lens and frame colorway, but also a box and lens cloth to complete the package. I designed a whimsical representation of golf flags on greens in the iconic Rocket red and white and decided to carry that throughout the event. See the Rocket Mortgage Classic page for more information on that product.

The Threads team also wanted an immersive activity for team members to participate in and asked that I design a fun, golf-inspired game. Taking a similar whimsical shape that also leveraged the size of the space, I was able to create a small putting game using real turf in a “bullseye” style game winning more points the closer you are to the flag. To add to the excitement around the launch party, I designed tee packs and branded golf stress balls for the giveaway counter and a donut station that made your regular glazed donut into a green with a flag. The shop itself was designed to be setup like a showroom that you can order from as a way to decrease need for inventory on-hand due to the overall dimensions of the space. Each year the Threads team is blown away by attendees and shoppers, often times selling out of products quickly!

Winternship Lounge

The Winternship Lounge was a collaborative home-base and lounge for winter interns of Rocket Companies. Formally a restaurant, the intern team wanted this space to be inviting and fun for interns to get to know each other, work and hangout. I pulled the blues from the intern color palette and created a co-working space complete with a color-drenched, cozy, blue lounge, a wrapped hot-cocoa bar, large-scale Winternship logo for a photo-op with friends, branded pillows facing the stage for lengthy meetings or annoucements and even created custom Detroit skyline illustrations to bring the cold outside, in.
